Libraries are dynamic instruments of education and SB Central library focuses on the excellence in services and flexible access to learning materials. These goals are attained by optimizing the skills, expertise and knowledge to support the college’s mission with respect to curriculum and research. Following are the services provided by the college library for its users.
Book Loan
This process is about borrowing a book for a specific period library patterns can check out a book, take it home and use it for a set amount of time before returning it. Book Reservation

Current Awareness Service (CAS)
This involves providing the resources and assistance to the individuals seeking information related to career planning, job seeking and professional development. This service aims to support Patrons in making informed decisions about their career path and enhancing their employability skills through access to educational and vocational material.
Career Collections
This involves providing the resources and assistance to the individuals seeking information related to career planning, job seeking and professional development. Journals and Magazines
This service involves providing access to a collection of periodicals including academic journals, magazines and other serial publication Creating dedicated area database with library helping users locating relevant articles or journals for their research. This services contribute to the research and information needs of the library patrons by providing a diverse range of periodical publication.
OPAC
OPAC stands for online public access catalogue which is a computerized system that allows user to search and access the library collection electronically. The service provides patrons with user friendly interface to search catalogue, access information, place holds and reservations, renew loans, explore subject headings.
NLIST-INFLIBNET
College Central Library is a member of NLIST-INFLIBNET. Users can search for Journal titles, words in title and publishers. Library users can register for this facility via a formal request to the librarian and obtain an individual user name and password.
DELNET
The Central Library SB College is a member of Developing Library Network (DELNET) which offers access to resources of other libraries in India. DELNET provides e-resources to users.
Reprographic Service
This service is the provision of reproduction of copying services for the library materials. This typically includes photocoping, scanning or other methods of duplicating documents, articles or pages from the books and making it available to the library users. Reprographic services contribute to the accessibility of material and support pattern in obtaining copies of the relevant information.
Reference Service
This service is mend in providing assistant and information to library users in their search for specific resource or information. Librarians or trained staff offers guidance on how to use the library catalogue database and other resources. They may help users to indicate relevant book, articles or other materials as well as answer questions and provide user research support. Reference service in efficiently accessing and utilising the library’s collection for their informational needs.
Referral Service
This involves directing user to external resources or experts and the library extend have the specific information or materials they are seeking. If a library cannot fullfill up particular request, they may refer the user to another library, institution or specialised service that can better assist with the inquiry. This ensure that patrons receives the most accurate and comprehensive assistant even if it is extends beyond the immediate capabilities of the library.
Internship
Internship service for library students is provided in SB Central library which typically involves hands- on- learning experiences within a library setting. These opportunities allow library students to apply theoretical knowledge gained from their academic studies in a practical, real- world environment. This internship may include practical training, exposure to technology, project work, interaction with patrons, professional development.
Library Training
Library training services are designed to equip staff patrons with necessary skill and knowledge related to operate library and resources. This services includes user training program, staff training, information literacy program, Technology workshops.
Orientation for new users
Orientation for new users in the library involves in introductory sessions or programs designed to familiarize individuals with library’s facilities, services and resources. This aims to help users navigate the library effectively. The library orientation may include introduction to the library layout, catalogue& database, all the library services, information on programs and events
Wi-Fi Access
Wi-Fi access service provides patrons with the ability to connect with personal device such as laptop, tablets or smartphone, to the library’s wireless network. This service allows user to access the internet online resources, and the library database using their own devices.
Question Bank
This service provides access to past examination papers or test questions .This service is particularly valuable for students and researchers who want to review or practice with questions that have been asked in previous year. Library maintains the collection of these materials and make it the available for reference or borrowing and also send these through mail.
